Niseko Snow Report

FRIDAY MAY 18 2012

Well..that's it folks..after a bit of a wet and windy final weekend to usher out season 11 -12, another Niseko season finally done and dusted.
All lifts are now closed for riding here in the resort, in fact Niseko is the last resort in Hokkaido to close up, its pretty much that way every year.

For the die hards, myself included, there's still a good amount of snow up at the very higher altitudes if you feel like a bit of hiking, skinning with some touring gear.
Good fun and great to get on out there with the dog ( Jake san ) back pack with lots of liquids and some good tucker ...Be sure to be cautious though at this time of year.

Once again it's been an Amazing Niseko Winter and if I could highlight 3 defining words that many of my guided guests kept repeating....it would be "Consistent Dry Powder"

ULLR is officially in the SkiJapan.com Hall of Fame and is now a lifetime gold member here in Niseko where once again, the exceptional snow show had all of us in awe, and
whilst many other very well known resorts on the planet were starving for snow of any type, our challenge again here in Niseko was getting rid of the stuff .....Up to 5 meters
a month of those crazy crystals during Dec Jan and Feb from village roads, rooftops and accommodation access, so if you missed your powder fix somewhere else this last winter
and deep dry crystals are important to you...Well...best book your next Jet for snow to Niseko...There's a Huge 12 / 13 Winter coming. Bookings for Japan and especially Niseko
are NOW OPEN!
info@skijapan.com

Why ?...Well.... After almost 22meters of snowfall at our top lifted areas since the resort opened last November 2011, this is amazingly about average for Niseko. That's around
65 Feet of Powder snow that fell since late November. Hence there's a reason why Niseko is known as The Powder Capital of the World and just recently placed in the prestigious
rankings of National Geographic top 25 Ski Resorts on the planet.
If you are wanting to tick all the boxes that make up an Epic snow holiday that you will not forget, Niseko is the business !

Consider this !.... we had 25 -- 28 days of relentless, persistent snow each and every month during this last December, January and February.
The question remains.." Where else on the planet does this happen consistently, and more importantly...Month after Month and Year after Year during winter ...and...in a ski resort
as interesting and culturally vibrant as Niseko ?"

Do you want those hard earned dollars risked on your 7, 10 or 14 day winter snow holiday by going to some other resort, perhaps arriving to old snow that fell several weeks before,
is bullet proof ice or has had the crystal completely groomed out of it.
Then, after some very lengthy flight and travel time, you're probably feeling less than average from super high resort altitude and to completely top yourself, you might be riding
on verrry sad man made or....no snow at all....Ouch !
Its very simple ...the answer is Niseko....Ridiculous amounts of Quint-essential Japanese Powder, falling at freakish low altitude delivering you an O2 advantage and with much less
travel time to get here.
On touch-down, sit back and relax with the seamless services of SkiJapan.com ...The Japan Snow Specialists'.

As we now move through spring to summer, tour buses are packed and heading for the rivers to take advantage of some awesome high water as the heavy melt and rain continues to pump
swollen rivers with all the product they need. Locally, our Shiribetsu river is positively raging now with water depth at 5 --6 meters offering some serious adrenalin pumping rafting.
The green is starting to appear on the trees, the birds are tweeting, fox pups are yelping and the golfing fairways are being prepared. Mountain biking is huge in this area, so too
is road biking ...so much fun out there ....Life is good !

Thanks a bunch to you all for stopping by the report page this last 6 months. The page itself has had a huge increase in views and we plan to step up the program with some exciting
new additions to this part of our site for next winter so stay tuned...I will keep you informed of what we have planned.

SkiJapan.com Mountain guiding programs this winter proved to be our busiest yet with many groups of guests contacting me at guiding@skijapan.com and securing their programs before
they traveled in order to not miss those epic guided days or week, out back in the deep !
The up-coming 12 /13 season will be even more exciting, integrating instruction, website photography and more new terrain with choices of 1 - 5 day multi-resort guiding packages
where we have one goal in mind....Safely delivering More Untracked Powder 2 U !
Our seamless door to door package service leaves nothing for you to do but be picked up and buckle up.
